How to get to Abbazia di San Giusto
The closest airport to fly into is Roma Fiumicino or Roma Ciampino. The next closest airports to fly into are Florence and Pisa. At the airport you can buy a local SIM card for tourists. It will be easier to get around and navigate Italy with the internet!
We suggest hiring a car as the venue is not easily accessible by public transportation. A car can be rented from Rome or Florence Airports or in each respective city center with lots of car rental options available. If your only option is public transportation, you can take a train from Roma Termini station to Viterbo City Center and then catch a 30 minute bus ride from Viterbo to Tuscania/
Suggestions on things to see and do around the Roma and Tuscania region
Spend a few days in Rome seeing the sights like the Pantheon,
Colosseum, Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain. Depending on time, you
should also spend at least half a day in the Vatican City where you
will see famous frescos in the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's
Basillica.
Drive to Tuscania in time for the wedding festivities on October 20
to 21 before taking the scenic route up to Florence (a few hours
north of the venue) the next day. Along the way stop at local
vineyards for lunches and wine tastings (and potentially spend
multiple days exploring the Tuscan countryside).
In
Florence, a city of beautiful art, you will see Duomo, Uffizi
Gallery, Piazzale Michelangelo in addition to Michelangelo's David
before flying out of Florence.
If you have more time,
you can carry on west to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and further north
is the beautiful colourful coastal area of Cinque Terre. It all
depends on how long you plan on being in Italy as there is a lot to
see outside of just Rome, Florence and Tuscania (which is really a
village).
